Marshall County HSTA Club Reflection
HSTA has been a great
experience for me personally. Being associated with HSTA has allowed me to obtain
a Masters Degree from West Virginia University. More important is the experience
of being able to work with the students that make up the Marshall County HSTA
Club. The students are intelligent and have a desire to gain as much knowledge
as they can as indicated by their dedication to HSTA. Having to attend weekly
meetings after school is not the most appealing thing for young teenagers.
One of the most satisfying
aspects has been to watch the children grow not only as students but as young
adults over the post four years. Seeing them skeptical of going to the summer
camp at WVU, seeing them make new friends from the other ends of the state,
and then watching them with tears in their eyes at the end of the week when
having to tell their new found friends so-long until they see each other again.
They may see their friends on the playing fields of athletics or at the annual
Science Symposium. Once these friends have been made, they always keep in contact
with them. If not through HSTA, then through the postal mail or by e-mail.
